Chile is a country that is over 4000 km long and only 200 km wide, bordered by the Pacific on the west and by the magnificent and impenetrable Andes to the east. Thus it has always been a virtual island, isolated from the rest of South America. These features have produced a very unique culture, offer amazing geography, and make for an incredible ski experience on fantastic snow.

In the Andes you ski at altitudes over 12000 feet above sea level. Day lodges in Chile are above the altitudes of most ski resort summits in Canada and Europe! Combine this with the arid climate and you have some of the best snow conditions in the world. Chile offers some of the best powder to be found, as it is so dry. This also explains why there is no such thing as ice or even hard pack!

Chile offers unique and varied terrain, from challenging expert slopes and endless powder, to amazing intermediate skiing that no one else talks about. There is loads of long and rolling terrain that makes for great fun and great skiing, whether cruising is your style or ripping it up!

Typically the weather is sunny and mild averaging -5C or warmer. Everyday is a spring day in Chile, yet the snow is dry and light, due to the unique climate and geography. Did we mention the slopes are the least crowded you will every experience? (look at the photos) This and the weather add to the most relaxing ski atmosphere available.

In the south of Chile you actually ski on volcanoes, active volcanoes! You have the opportunity to hike up and look right into the most active volcano in South America, Volcano Villarica, and then ski it from top to bottom!

The people of Chile are the friendliest and most hospitable you will encounter. They are warm, easy going, always willing to help you, and love to salsa! This all contributes to Chile being a very safe place to travel, as well as the fact that it is politically and economically the most stable country in South America.

Of course there is wonderful Chilean wine to be had with lots of great new food experiences. You will get to experience the infamous “Pisco Sour”, the Chilean national drink. Nightlife in Chile is abundant and you can carry on into the wee hours of the morning.

So if you want to ski great snow in mild temperatures, eat great food, drink fantastic Chilean wine, and soak up an entirely different culture, then this is the trip for you.
