This year we return to the Italian ski resort Passo Tonale. You will be staying at the Delle Alpi Hotel, which is just yards from the ski slopes and a short walk from the lively bars of Passo Tonale.
For this season the ski area has been substantially expanded. There is a brand new chair lift that links Passo Tonale with the middle village of Pontedilegno and some extra runs (and a chairlift) linking the lower village of Temu.
Passo Tonale has skiing to suit all ability levels. The south facing slopes near the hotel are particularly good for beginners and intermediates. For more advanced skiers the resort has plenty of pisted red and black runs. The presence of the Ghiacciaio Presna glacier ensures that skiing is guaranteed should there be a warm spell. And if the snow conditions are right there's off piste to be found on the glacier and through the trees down at Pontedilegno. Snowboarders are also catered for with a special play area containing jumps etc.
The various mountain restaurants offer a great selection of food, and at much lower prices than you'll find in the big French resorts. Italy also banned smoking in bars and restaurants earlier this year so clear air is guaranteed.
Passo Tonale is well provided with bars and nightlife. For Apres Ski the parasol bar behind Hotel Paradiso is not to be missed. There are also happy hours at the Even Disco Pub and Crazy Horse. Later in the evening other bars such as Antares and Miramonte are just a short walk from the hotel.
