| Student wins scholarship to Prague |
Tuesday 08 May 2007 |
An American student has won a place on a prestigious training programme, based in the popular city break destination of Prague.
Joe Vande Slunt, who is currently studying at Fond du Lac University in the state of Wisconsin, will take part in the Global Leadership Programme (GLP) at the Prague's Charles University, the oldest university in Eastern Europe.
The four-week programme, which begins in July this year, will focus on university courses, cultural activities and community service in the Czech capital, reports the Fond du Lac Reporter.
Joe told the paper: "I'm definitely not a carbon cut-out of a student, but being from such a small town, there will be a few things that I have not been exposed to that I want to learn about through this programme.
"I'd like to take three things away from this really: to have a better understanding of different people and their cultures and backgrounds; to find motivation, inspiration and vision and use it to prepare for things down the road and to gain a positive view of things."
Take time out with a city break.
