FAQ
Rail link for Budapest airport Wednesday 02 May 2007

Ferihegy international airport in Budapest will be serviced by a new rail link as of July 2007.

Construction of a railway station for the regular service train that connects south-east Hungary with Budapest will be completed at Ferihegy by May 8th 2007, www.railway-market.pl reports.

What's more, the construction of an overpass will connect Nyugati (Western) Railway station to the airport's Terminal 1.

The journey time from the station to the airport will be approximately 20 minutes, and trains are expected to pass through the station once every 30 minutes.

Speaking in 2006, Janos Koka, the Hungarian minister for economy and transport, said that an express train service between Budapest and Ferihegy airport would be constructed in two or three years.

Hungary's capital city is often referred to as the Paris of the East, and is one of the prime locations in eastern Europe for a city break. Located on the River Danube, millions of tourists visit the municipality every year to take in such wondrous sights as the Royal palace, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Danube bridges.

Take time out with a city break.
