| Prague more popular than ever |
Thursday 10 May 2007 |
Prague is the sixth most popular tourist destination in Europe, according to new research.
A study by Jones Lang LaSalle, a company which monitors the main markets in the central European region, has revealed that 90 per cent of the visitors to the Czech capital are foreign.
What's more, the agency CzechTourism has suggested that Prague is set to jump three places and become the third most popular European destination after London and Paris, reports the Prague Daily Monitor.
The Jones LaSalle study also revealed that the hotel market in Prague is booming as a result of its increasing popularity as a city break destination.
Six new hotels, each with 1,000 rooms, opened in the municipality last year, while the number of rooms in Prague as a whole has increased by 6,600 since 2000. This equates to an annual growth of 6.25 per cent.
There are plans to open three more hotels in 2007. The authors of the study believe the most important of these new establishments will be the five-star hotel Rocco Forte, which will have 101 rooms.
Take time out with a city break.
