| Number of Brits visiting several countries on the rise |
Tuesday 29 May 2007 |
An increasing number of British holidaymakers have visited over 20 different foreign destinations, according to new research.
A study conducted by AXA Travel Insurance has found that while the average traveller from the UK has gone aboard for a holiday just seven times, the number of people who have been to over 20 or 50 countries is rising.
Of the 1,013 British adults aged 16 to 64 questioned for the study, five per cent have visited over 20 countries and one per cent have visited over 50 countries.
Nick Kidd, head of lifestyle protection and household claims for AXA, said: "Despite the rise of budget air travel a significant number of Britons have not travelled overseas on holiday.
"However, we are also witnessing the rise of a new breed of traveller, one that prefers to track down new destinations than return to old haunts." The survey also revealed that one in ten British adults has never travelled outside the country for a holiday!
