| New walk and cycle routes in Lake District |
Monday 28 May 2007 |
A collection of new country routes which incorporate rides on buses and boats have been launched in the Lake District.
Visitors to the Windermere and Coniston areas can now embark on "six specially designed circular trips" and enjoy a ride on a bus or a boat to get them to and from the starting points.
There are three walking routes and three cycling routes, which are designed for people of all abilities and include a "nice little stroll" and a "cycle ride for the experienced".
Barney Hill, access development adviser for the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA), said: "These walking and cycling routes have been designed specially to ensure that people don't have to retrace their steps.
"A complete circular route is always much more interesting and enjoyable and with these routes people get to enjoy the added bonus of a bus or ferry journey as well."
The beautiful countryside in the Lake District and the numerous outdoor pursuits on offer make it an extremely popular place for locals and visitors alike, particularly for those who want to take part in fun-filled activities.
Get your heart racing with one of our activity days.
