| Majority of hols encounter aren't problem free |
Friday 04 May 2007 |
More than 70 per cent of holidays taken by British tourists are blighted by some form of problem, according to new research.
Just 28 per cent of holidaymakers surveyed by Fisher's Travel SOS said that trips are undertaken without problems such as theft of property, while 15 per cent admitted that their entire holiday was consequently ruined.
Moreover, it found that just 12 per cent of participants said they were able to deal with any difficulty encounter while on holiday, with the majority blaming a lack of the necessary "information or the means" to cope.
Publisher Julian Fisher said: "The results have showed a marked rise with incidents.
"Even the simplest of tasks when dealing with people in a foreign country, especially when unable to speak the language, has contributed to high stress levels already acknowledged throughout the [tourism] industry."
If you are about to embark on a singles holiday, remember to keep your wits about you, particularly if visiting a country where you have never been before, so that your holiday will not be spoilt by an unpleasant problem such as having your passport stolen.
