'Magical' Prague popular with tourists in May Friday 04 May 2007

Prague is preparing for a surge in the number of tourists to the Czech city next month thanks to two fantastic festivals.

The Prague Spring Music Festival and the Prague Khamora take place between May 12th and June 3rd and on May 28th respectively, and provide an array of entertaining events for locals and tourists alike.

Prague Khamora is an event that celebrates the history of the Romanies, or gypsies. The Music Festival is an international classical music event, and despite neither event starting for four weeks, 62 per cent of the rooms in the city's 343 hotels are already unavailable, figures from EuroBookings.com show.

Marcel Stillekens, co-owner of the site, said: "May is one of the very best times of the year to visit Prague because of the moderate climate and the occurrence of the two festivals that quite literally set the city buzzing with energy."

"Many people consider Prague to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe - some call it magical. We receive many positive reviews from travellers who say that they have never experienced a city so rich in culture, art, and diversity."

Take time out with a city break.
