| Lake District writing competition launched |
Tuesday 15 May 2007 |
A writing competition has been launched which encourages lovers of all things outdoors to disclose their experiences of the Lake District.
Organised by the Cumbrian Tourist board, the first Lake District Outdoor Writing Competition aims to get people to share the adventures they have had while visiting the area.
Competition judge Eric Robson commented: "We're looking for people to tell us about their day out on the fells or on the lakes, whatever their chosen outdoor activity.
"What we want to see are articles that convey a real sense of the exhilaration that people feel getting out in this beautiful part of the country."
Prizes worth up to £800 are available for the winners of the competition, including outdoor equipment from North Face, Lowe Alpine, Lyon Equipment and George Fisher.
Entries should be between 500 and 1,000 words and can be accompanied by up to four photographs. The closing date is September 3rd 2007.
The competition was launched shortly before the start of Cumbria's Month of Adventure, which involves a host of outdoor activities including mountain biking, adventure racing and walking.
Get your heart racing with one of our activity days.
