| LDNPA searching for new members |
Tuesday 29 May 2007 |
The Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) is on the hunt for new members at the request of the Environment Secretary David Miliband.
The conservation group is looking for people to help with its efforts to preserve wildlife in the Lake District, enhance its cultural heritage and work towards improving the beauty of the countryside there.
Candidates are required to fill out an application form, and those who are successful will have a good understanding of sustainability. There will be two appointments, one in the autumn of this year, and one in the spring of next year.
A statement released by the LDNPA reads: "The Lake District National Park Authority works to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage within the Park's boundary and to help improve public understanding and enjoyment of the area.
"The successful appointees will be expected to provide a national voice, and take a particular interest in strategic issues particularly land management, environment/conservation and business.
"However, whether members are appointed by the Secretary of State, the constituent local authorities or the parishes, they are all expected to reflect both local and national interests in their decision making."
The Lake District is a wonderful place to visit for a fun activity break, due to its breathtaking scenery and the multitude of outdoor pursuits on offer. For a little something special, click here.
