| Hungary launches new tourism scheme |
Friday 11 May 2007 |
The Hungarian tourist board has implemented a new strategy to draw more German tourist, the Napi Gazdasag newspaper reports.
According to managing director of Magyar Turizmus, Ivan Rona, the strategy will be prepared by the end of this month.
A key element of the new strategy is the European Capital of Culture 2010 project in Pecs, southern Hungary.
Moreover, the construction of a huge new conference centre to be completed in southern Budapest's Lagymanyos area by 2009 is expected to create an increase in conference tourism.
Speaking after a meeting of the Hungarian parliamentary committee on sport and tourism last week, Mr Rona said that approximately 90 per cent of foreign visitors are single travellers, which he suggests means that advertising on the internet, television and in newspapers will be the most effective method of promotion.
One of the most popular destinations for tourists in the eastern European country is the capital Budapest, a cultural haven which is seeped in history and that is also full of great bars pubs and clubs, which makes it a brilliant place to visit for a city break.
Take time out with a city break.
