| Horse Society ride extended into mid-Wales |
Tuesday 29 May 2007 |
The British Horse Society's Prince Llywelyn Ride has been extended into Wales. The new route has been devised by Brenda Wickham, the former regional access and bridleways officer, and now encompasses a trail from the Powys Shropshire border to the mid-Wales coast at Borth. Now covering approximately 80 miles of countryside, the horse-ride passes through only five villages and a number of small hamlets, as well as going through several forests and crossing moorland and farmland.
It was officially opened by Dr Sarah Myhill, who for many years has led the Teme Valley Pony Club summer camping expedition along the popular route.
She said: "This route has provided a lot of fun for the children who have ridden across it over the years. It is fantastic that it is now open for everyone. The more people who can enjoy it the better."
Mark Weston, BHS director of access, safety and welfare, added: "This new ride provides riders with the opportunity to ride across Wales, experiencing beautiful and varied landscapes and vistas. It will hopefully attract a large number of equine tourists to the area and make a significant contribution to the local economy."
Revitalise yourself with a fun activity break.
