| Festival of flowers in Cotswolds |
Monday 21 May 2007 |
A dazzling array of tulips is on display at a public garden in the Cotswolds.
The tulip bulbs were planted last August in Hidcote Manor Gardens in readiness for an annual arts and crafts-style garden.
Approximately 14,000 bulbs were planted and they have bloomed spectacularly, helped by the warm weather.
This year sees the 100th edition of the arts and crafts garden, which will also be celebrated with an exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show.
It will be designed by TV gardener Chris Beardshaw, and will be tended by Hidcotes's head gardener Glyn Jones along with his seven-strong team of staff.
The Cotswolds is sometimes referred to as the heart of England, and is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It is characterised by small, pretty villages and towns with houses built from Cotswold stone, and is unsurprisingly extremely popular with tourists, who flock to the area to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
