| Croatian city named top bank hol destination |

Split is the best place to head over forthcoming the bank holiday weekend, according to a specialist travel group.
A new study by the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) has revealed the top ten most desirable locations for a short break, and the Croatian city came top of the list.
The top five was dominated by popular city-break locations. Tunis in Tunisia came second, followed by the Middle Eastern destination Manama in Bahrain, with the lively German capital city of Berlin and Washington DC, USA ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
The remainder of the list was comprised of Palermo in Italy, Hong Kong, Reykjavik in Iceland, Montreal in Canada and the French capital, Paris.
Split is the second largest city in Croatia and has many interesting attractions, including the ancient Diocletian's palace and a plethora of museums, such as the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments.
The city also offers great connections to the many Croatian islands in the Adriatic Sea.
