| Cotswolds conservation projects offered cash injection |
Tuesday 15 May 2007 |
Those who carry out work to conserve the natural beauty of the Cotswolds are being invited to apply for funding to help their efforts as part of a new scheme.
The Cotswolds Conservation Board's Caring for the Cotswolds Project will be handing out £94,000 of grants, to cover up to half of the cost of any work carried out, as part of its new 'local distinctiveness scheme'.
It is intended for projects such as the conservation of locally distinct features, the repair of drystone walls and the restoration of limestone grassland. The scheme is also being supported by a £1.4 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund
John Tabor, project manager for Caring for the Cotswolds, said: "The Cotswolds Conservation Board encourages people living and working within the area to help conserve and enhance the Cotswolds AONB.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for those who feel connected to the Cotswolds landscape to channel their enthusiasm and get involved in a project that will benefit their area by encouraging people to enjoy and appreciate its unique qualities."
Anyone who has ever visited this beautiful part of the country will know that the Cotswolds is definitely worth preserving. Classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty it is a perfect location for, among other thing, an enjoyable singles break.
