| Artistic works on display in Cardiff |
Wednesday 25 April 2007 |
An artist is to display 50 works which depict the Welsh coastline and mountains at an exhibition in Cardiff.
The collection of paintings by Rob Piercy will be on show at the Albany Gallery, which features pieces created with watercolours and oils, as well as charcoal drawings, the Western Mail reports.
He told the paper: "They all show the wild side of the landscape. The majority of the work in the show has the unique feature of not having any direct sign of humanity.
Mr Piercy drew inspiration for his work after spending a lot of time in Pembrokeshire and the Brecon Beacons last year and he added: "I have always had a close affinity with the land and being a mountaineer for most of my adult life the wilder side of the landscape has always excited me more than the gentler lowlands."
"I find that the drama of the high hills and rugged coastline is wonderful inspiration for any landscape painter," he continued.
It is perhaps unsurprising that the Brecon Beacons, a great place for an activity break, provided such wonderful artistic inspiration, as this area of natural beauty is a superb location with striking landscapes, an abundance of wildlife and tremendous mountain ranges.
Revitalise yourself with a fun activity break.
