Crans Montana is an amalgamation of the towns of Crans, Montana and Aminona and therefore makes up a large and varied ski area covering over 100 miles!
It's well known for its stunning scenery, spectacular views (the panorama includes, Matterhorn and Mont Blanc) and sunny weather with a pleasant mix of open and wooded slopes.
The resort is perfect for intermediates with a good mix of red and black runs, a few steep pistes and plenty of off piste for experts. There are three excellent nurseries for absolute beginners and a section of easier runs on the crans side of the mountain. The ski area covers a large region of well connected and wide runs with lifts running from four valley bases and a jumbo gondola going up to the Plain Morte glacier at 3000m.
Crans is also very boarder friendly. There are a number of specialist shops and the Stoked snowboard school. Most of the lifts are chairs and gondolas, and the drag lifts are usually avoidable.
The 3 star Hotel Bella Lui is situated above town on one of the sunniest terraces in the Swiss alps. You'll find the nearest ski lift an easy 10 minute walk and the better skiers can ski directly back to the hotel. Lockers are available for a small fee at the Grand Signal station where you will usually begin your ascent. All rooms offered are single rooms with shower, WC, cable TV, modem connection and balcony.
A short walk away you'll find the town centre has plenty to offer both day and night with boutiques, supermarkets, bars, clubs and leisure facilities such as ice skating, swimming and bowling. Come out of the hotel and turn right and you'll hit Crans, the celebrity town with glamorous shops and bars. Turn left out of the hotel and you'll see Montana, the more modest town with a world class ice rink, apres ski bars and a casino.
With such a choice of runs and numerous mountain bars and restaurants, it's easy to fill a week here. For those looking to fill their time with other activities, why not try dog sledging, paragliding or one of the many other alternatives available.
