Cutting through Mont Blanc, the Chamonix valley offers some of the most stunning views in Europe. The Valley connects a dozen slope areas all with different terrains and levels of ability and all covered on one Mont Blanc lift pass.
Chamonix tends to attract many advanced and off piste skiers from all over the World to its more challenging and wild landscape, but when the snow's good everyone can enjoy the many resorts all within easy drive/bus ride of each other.
You'll be based in Argentière which is a small but lively village nestled right under Les Grands Montets - the most snow sure of the resorts running from early December until May. The Yeti Lodge is very near to the lifts so you won't have far to go to start your skiing day. Les Grands Montets is famed for it's off-piste as well as the Pont de Vue, a spectaculr black run with excellent views of the glacier and its crevasses. The runs here are fair mix of reds and blacks with the odd blue so we would recommend this resort to intermediates and above.
If you fancy your skiing a bit more relaxed then La Flégère is a very short free ski bus ride away and offers lovely wider runs including blues and greens and some nice lunch spots. Beginners can learn at Le Tour which is also a short ride away and offers a good selection of easy runs. Whilst Le Tour and some lower nursery areas are perfect for beginners, it will mean you will be separated from the rest of the group during the daytimes and the nurseries are reliant on good snow. But the mix of resorts in the valley does offer good skiing for anyone that is beyond snowplough.
Yeti Lodge is situated just 4 mins walk from the "Grand Montets Ski Lift" and is also conveniently situated close to the "Domaine de Balme" and "Flegere/Brevant" Ski areas.
The Lodge offers an unrivalled location with stunning panoramic views of Chamonix's Mont Blanc Massif. The accommodation is luxurious and spacious and is the perfect base for your skiing or snow boarding break. A spacious lounge and dining area and a sprawling terrace will give the group the chance to spread out and enjoy the grandeur of your surroundings. With comfortable furnishings, deep sofas and a traditional fire-place you can relax to the full after your days skiing or walking. And the Lodge has its own Sauna.
Argentière is small but has an adequate amount of bars and some lovely restaurants as well as a typical French bakery and some nice shops. We recommend you do head into Chamonix Town Centre at least once during your stay which has quite a bustling nightlife. |
